    Thanks for that
Am frightened mine will just drop dead one day as cables out of coils are no longer sealed, plug caps are loose, and have tried to trim back the leads and re-screw the caps back on, but the leads are getting pretty short now.

If I do the mounting as per my thinking, will make a template of the bracket and post pics up for all to see.

    Cheers

    Calling all electrical experts.
Ok, this where I make it more confusing.
1: They state that if using a Dyna Coil, to go higher ohm than that of the original to avoid over-heating and burning the new units out.
2: the 750 manual I have states that the coils will be approx 3 to 5 ohms.
3: why do we then use 3 ohm Dyna units and not the 5 ohm black units?

Has anybody used the DC8-1 coils ( black units )?
What we any downside to using 5 ohm units when everybody appears to be using 3 ohms?

In reality, the 3ohm Dyna coils are about 3.8 ohms and the 5ohm coils are probably not much more than 5ohms so the difference won't be quite that large but you will get hotter spark with the 3ohm green coils than the 5ohm coils.
Last, there is more heat generated using the 3ohm coils than the 5ohm coils but both are well within the safe range of operation for use with points or a Dyna S.

..Since we're talking coils. Through devise means I have aquired a Accel coil kit which is rated @ .7 OHMS resistance on the primary side. We know 3.OHMS is recommended.
..QUESTION...Could I add 2.3 OHMS resister/s in series to make the 3 OHMS that is required, and it all work ??
..PSS..I have already bought the correct ones for the 83KAT project.
..Thank you and cheers Ian. OH by the way the back is still playing up like a Chinese Cherry car.(Google them)

...Dave, To answer your question...Suzuki says 3-5 ohms approx.....Haynes says 3-5 ohms....It is only DYNA that seam to want 3 ohms!....My question was more about adding resistance in series to be able to use the .7ohm coils on our old jiggers...Actually I think they suit a Kawasaki...cheers Ian.

I'm cool with that Ian...maybe its the Kawasaki in me that went straight to Dyna 3ohm coils..
All I can say is the improvement is huge.

Ok, it appears the masses have spoken.
I'll go with the 3ohms and see how we go.
Thanks to all for the feedback, it's just the management side of me that questions the why and options.

    Cheers

I might add I'm running a Dyna S ignition system as well.
