I definately considered it. Unfortunately I'm not very good at looking after my toys, so it would look like a 30yr old bike after I'd had it for 6mths. Would not do justice to the amount of work he put into it... Out of curiosity, what's the difference in grey import v sold local Katana's? I'm guessing the 1000's arent as rare in Japan as here?

The 1000 Kat with slide carbs is a very rare model in the few countries that received it. The SZ/SD 1000 Kat was never released in Japan it was an export only model. There are differences in the Grey vs Australian delivered Kats and these changes depended on which country the Kat was made for. The good news for someone looking to get into Kats is that most Grey Kats that appear for sale in Australia are cheaper than the Australian delivered models for a number of reasons.

Hey Dave, that 1000 is O.K. apart from the very high price but being a US model it came with the 34mm Mikuni CV carbs and not the super sexy slides like your Baby!

Thanks for the update Dave, squared away now. Your US SZ is still worth every cent of the $9,000 you were thinking of asking for it. And if you know who doesn't buy it someone else will.

    Cheers.

Thats a nice looking 1000. Even has the original pipes to go with it - looks to be almost 100% all there in terms of originality, but I still think the tag is a tad high.

Also have to laugh as both the two adds listed here use common language... Seldom found in this condition...... The katana legend was largely built on racing success etc etc.... Hee Hee
