    1100 in Canberra

Wondering if you knowledgable types have an opinion on this bike? Would it be worth the money? Would it be worth flying down from NthQLD to look at it with plans to ride it home? Not overly fussed on originality, just dont want to pay more than it's worth(obviously)

    Is this the bike?

If so the mileage and price seem about right. Always cautious of ad's which mentioned engine overhaul but don't mention receipts. Contact a bike shop in the area and ask them to do a pre-purchase inspection, it would less than the cost of a flight down.

If you are able to find out what was done to "overhaul" the engine 20,000 km ago that could help decide the issue. If it had a re-bore,new pistons, rings etc, new cam chain, the valves done and new valve guide seals installed its worth the money being asked. If "overhauled" means it had the carbs synced and new plugs and not much else then $7,300 is nudging the high side in price. Like you say you are not chasing original so if it runs strong and is straight then it is worth making an offer and see what happens. Good luck with it.

    Cheers.

Just thinking out loud for an extra 1700 I'd be looking at Dave's 1000cc Kat if he is selling, 4-500 to fly to Canberra another 2-300 to get home for the extra grand Dave's bikes are a known quantity and bloody good looking Kats to boot, not to mention keeping it in QLD
    Just my 2 cents worth

    Cheers

Yep, didn't know Dave was selling but if he is and it's in your price range I would definitely be going down that path!

Hi Dave, the bloke thinking about your 1000 (he who shall remain nameless for now) would be missing the best 1000 Kat in the land if he lets yours slip through his fingers, although a QLD roadworthy won't be much use to him. I might ring him and ask if he is feeling well because buying your 1000 is the no brainer of the year.

    Cheers mate.
