You're starting with a mostly complete Kat... that's a real leg up over how I did it
    1984 Katana 7/11 - done at last!

    1982 GS450E - not quite stock

Hi Andrew, your Kat V.I.N. and engine number line up very well and it would be 99% sure that engine 172756 is the original engine installed by Suzuki. Original or replacement engines are not an issue but knowing that a Kat still has the original engine can be of interest to some owners.

    Cheers.

    thanks, nice to know.

doesn't trouble me greatly but knowing everying about your new toy is always nice. i think the last owner may have glossed it up a bit when he said i got the bargain of the century but you get that. i guess you're meant to harp on about the dumb previous owner, well unless they're on here

when he said he never had to put a spanner to it, i interpreted that as never having needed to fix anything major. turns out that means never fixed anything.

i know these are good motors, the frame looks solid, it's achievable. it would be nice to get to where i want to go without damaging the bank balance too badly, but that's life. i have a mental image of where i want to go, some of the details are a bit fuzzy, it's mostly focussed on me riding it so the ancilliary stuff isn't visible

anyway, thanks for the generous welcome. i appreciate it

    regards
    andrew
