It may be in Australia. It may have been released yesterday. It may have been delivered to most dealers by yesterday. Cam D may have also been busted for wheelies on a public road yesterday on a new Katana.

BUT not all the pre-sold bikes are ready for pick up.

This is due to an issue created by Suzuki Motorcycles Australia where a number of bikes including mine are being held up due to the pre-order of parts and accessories for the new Katana not being supplied on time to the dealers. Evidently they were only shipped to the dealers on the 7th the day before the release and in my case will not arrive for seven days.

And remember this is not a clone / remake of the old Katana. It is a new model and so far I have not read a negative review.

It is a real pain Pete. Suzuki Motorcycle Australia stated when they made a special offer for parts and accessories for the new Katana that all will be delivered "in line" with the bikes allowing time for the dealer to fit.

Great! So a lot of the pre-orders had parts and accessories ordered.

The release date was mid to late September 2019.

Then they moved it forward to 8th August. My dealer received his bikes on 5th August. PD all the bikes and waiting for the accessories to arrive. Nothing Tuesday, Tuesday Suzuki promised (in my case) the dealer he will receive on Wednesday. Noon Wednesday nothing. They chase Suzuki Motorcycles Australia and guess what???? They dispatched everything on that Wednesday (7th August - the day before the release). Not only did they dispatch the order they (Suzuki) sent it with his stock order which takes 7 days. One disappointed buyer and a dealer freaking as he has lost valuable workshop time which was allocated for the job.

The new Katana is awesome but it is not a remake of the 1981 model

That's pretty poor form Tom! You would thing the guy who put his deposit down lightning fast before even seeing one would be looked after, especially for such an iconic release.

Have you considered giving Suzuki Australia some direct feedback on it? They may not do much but if they know they disappointed their first Kat buying it may help someone somewhere? Obviously your dealer's hands are tied and they're in the same boat.

I hope all goes well for you Tom and they get there act together soon.
I had the same thing with triumph put a deposit down on the new thunderbird before they had any to test ride in Australia also ordered to come with the bike $3000 worth of accessories
bike turned up and 6weeks later most of my parts did, still couldn't complete my order for another 4 weeks as there was supposedly a mix up between triumph aus and England.
the worst part is the parts that didn't show up for a few months were for the wife pillion seat and backrest, she wasn't happy me going for a ride on my bike waving good bye, glade she has her licence now.

Pete, I personally have sent a rather professionally pointed email without a response. Social media has been going mental with basically Suzuki Motorcycles Australia either making misleading statements like "we have telephone those affected", to a white wash about how great they are in bringing the release date forward and we gave everyone a free helmet and a exclusive book for Christmas.

The insult to a few is Suzuki Motorcycles Australia have responded in writing to questions and or comments on Face Book (which my must say from the customer point have been very honest, factual and NOT aggressive or rude) then as they (SMA) have clearly highlighted the fact they have a problem and have not handled it every well, SMA have then deleted all the comments and their responses they do not like.

Anyway, 6 days now and I will have mine. Hopefully I get a ride in before I head off to the Katana State of Origin

Wow that's a bit rude Tom! Glad you're on top of it, pity about the lack of response though, it's a shame when companies don't take feedback from their customers seriously nor act on it.

Fingers crossed you'll get a ride in! Looking forward to the first report and some pic's!
