So I need more clearance over the footrest & the arm bent down to get the pedal part lower. Photo required me thinks ... at 4.42am.Attachment 6745
    It looks like these pedals could be appropriate for your use. GSX-R1100.jpg GSX1100F.jpg

    Unfortunately, I don't know whether the spline of these pedals are the same as the one of Katana, though.

    Suzuki are pretty good at maintaining the same splines - the GSX1100F one definitely looks like the right spline. GSXR one looks like it might be the same spline as the gearshift shaft

    This part;

    43120-49301
    is identical on
    GS1000 1982 (Z) USA (E03)
    GS1100S 1983 (D) USA (E03)
    GS1100S 1983 (D) USA (E03)
    GS750A 1983 (D) USA (E03)
    GSX1000S 1982 (Z) GENERAL EXPORT (E01)
    GSX750S 1983 (D) (E01 E02 E04 E06 E18 E21 E22 E24 E25 E30 34 39)
    GSX750S KATANA 1982 (Z) 1 2 4 6 15 16 17 18 21 22 24 25 26 30 39
    So brake pedal from those bike would definatly fit;
    But I expect the splines are the same on awfull a lot of same period suzuki`s, go vist a wrecker with your brake pedal.

    Just a Idea maybe you could pivot a custom pedal off the back of your footpeg mount and use a push rod and bell crank to work the master cylinder.

    Thanks everyone for your input. I'll visit a couple of wreckers tomorrow but if no joy there I've got models to mention when I ring around.

    What about a Katana 650G pedal? I've just nickel plated my one and it looks like it might do the trick.

    That might go close but the foot plate would be upside down ... although that's a simple fix.

    Ah, the mufflers in the way... Unfortunately the offset means you can't turn it upside down.

    I wonder if the offset would clear the pipe?

    I'm going to Old Gold M/C's tomorrow to pick up one that's already been modified so hopefully it will be OK.
