I looked into it when I was going over there but ended up in a fair bit of red tape and rigmarole and $$$.
You can buy touristy stuff like you can in your local knife, gun or disposal store. But I wanted to put my money on something proper.
    Maybe one day.

Surely you are right. It might be that exporting swords is a painful task. However, except for hunting guns and shotguns, guns are prohibited in principle in Japan. But possession of swords is not strictly restricted. It's rather free. The reason for this is that swords are not suitable for crime. Swords are conspicuous.

huuuum...What kind of people are the odd crazy "Ronins"? For your information, in Japanese, " Ronin " means unemployed "Samurai". Later, " Ronin " became the word used to refer to people who graduated from high school, and they are preparing for entrance exams for universities for another year.

Yes the Samurai with no master. Its just a joke. We often have violent nutcases over hear. No where near the United States though.
One guy on the local news not long ago was chasing a man down the road with a chainsaw. Bad road rage I'm afraid.

Wow! It is Australia's Jason on Friday the 13th! Chainsaw is more painful than a sword.

By the way, there are famous Japanese mystery movies. Please watch these movies, when you have the time. They are with translation.
