    1100 Kat and its ghost

    Hi Everyone,

Well its been along time. I had to step away from my pride and joy for a few years for one reason or another. Due to that, I sort of stepped out of the forum and club as I didn't want to hang around if I wasn't going to be pro active. So I hope I didn't offend!

I have a 1982 wire wheel in pretty bad shape which I'm about to slowly blow the dust off again.
it will be a slow rebuild as funds come to hand.
I had some help stripping the Kat down to rolling frame from a mechanic who unfortunately had a bad car accident and I was handed the bike back mixed up in 4 large boxes and a pallet. Some what of a jigsaw.
Thankfully he is ok but unable to help anymore.

So in the next couple of weeks I'm going wipe off some of the dust and start having ago again.

Last time I caught up with you all Nick came up for a trip on his Bussa and we hit hills in the back Brissie.
And Pete was just starting to moulding the seat for his 750 rebuild.
So its been along time between drinks but would like to catch up again some time.

    Cheers Pauly

    Welcome back Pauly
Yeah, lots to catch up on.

A couple of very quick updates,
The annual State of Origin is on this weekend in Nambucca Heads. Good turn out by the QLD crew, NSW is behind on points yet again!
Nick is here to catch up with everybody, but he does not ride anymore. Last year he got cleaned up at a track day, was airlifted out in serious condition, spent more than a week in Westmead ICU, then I think more than 9 weeks in the brain unit learning to walk and move properly. He is back at work driving trucks again, but will never ride - handed in his licence.

    Hi Pauly,
Welcome back. Like yourself I am an infrequent poster on this site, still like to dip in every now and then just to see what is happening.

I also have a 1982 wire-wheel Kat, as well as a 1984 SD 1100 Kat. (The SD is on this site as it is the one that wears the aluminium body work.) If you have any questions about rebuilding your SZ, ask away, someone will be able to answer. Enjoy what will be a rewarding, and sometimes challenging process. This is what you are aiming for...?

    Hey Rob.
    Thanks for the welcome.
yeh a lot of work to do all the parts and bolts were just thrown into 4 boxes regardless to what parts they belonged to. So will be fun but I'm looking forward to it.
My Computer isn't opening the pictures on the site but will get this fixed asap.

    Cheers

    Hi Nick.

yip a great bunch of guy on this site.

So what happened on the track and how are you progressing now.
Im sorry I Jumped on the site a couple of weeks late. It would have been great to catch up again.
We are a long way apart but if you ever need a hand or some thing done in this neck of the woods I'm happy to help.

I grabbed a large kit off Eric the other day and some new wires from Rapid cables so i have started to reconstruct a new wiring harness. That will give me something to do for a couple of weeks.
How long were you up here for and what did you get up to?

    Time to hit the sack.
    Catch up soon

    Pauly

    Hi Pauly,
Everything in 4 boxes, that sounds like a lot of fun! A bit of, this goes with that etc...

Sounds like a great way to spend a weekend or two just getting familiar with the bits. Enjoy the fun of it.

    Cheers

    Yeh
    just started the wiring harness.
had my frame returned from the painter this week, dip stripped, blasted, undercoated sent to Dave Kellets for straightening. Now Im sanding the undercoat ready for top coat.
I found a parts site in the UK which has the parts fiche and when you click the part number they show a photo of the part , which will be handy to identify the correct bolts for the right parts.
    Should be handy
    Pauly
