    Hey from Brisbane

    Hey all

Just picked myself up a 85 Katana 750 which I am hoping to tidy up and ride. She was last on the road in 2002 and sat ina shed ever since, The good news is that she is free and not locked up , so the next step is to find some carbs as mine are toast

Good for you Kiffsta, as a katana owner of eight plus years of a rolling restoration, when It comes to carbies if I had my time over I would of got a new set on special for around the eight hundred mark , most new sets I seen can go from twelve up the 25 hundred depending on your budget,a second hand set maybe three hundred and even then if the slides and diaphragms need replacing that could run six hundred and there is still gaskets and all the brass bits another couple of hundred again ,you may as well brought a New set.
have fun and make sure the tyres ,brake hoses and calipers and master cylinders seals are replaced and any other rubbers and of coarse the suspension and there pivot points E.G. steering head bearings and swing arm bushes and bearing Too.
All the best with that, there is sure to be plenty of information on this site to get you safety on the road.

Welcome Kiffsta! You've definitely come to the right place for plenty of advice and tips on all things Katana.

Us Brissie fellas are pretty active too. The north side bunch head out every Saturday morning for a run and the Ipswich area guys get out and about a bit as well.

Which part of Brissie are you in? If you have other two wheeled transport aside from the Kat you're more than welcome to join the Saturday morning fun.

Hey guys, thanks for the warm welcome , I live in birkdale but Run a bike wreckers in capalaba so this is going be a shop project when we have time . I am not going down the full resto path , more getting it safe and rideable so I can enjoy it. I stripped my carbs today and the butterflies are jammed shut , they are soaking so I am hopeful I can resurrect them. I have ordered some carb seals from litetek. http://litetek.co/Carb_Kit_Suzuki_GS...ana_82-85.html As I have used these seals on many greyimport bikes with great success.

Does anyone have a spare set of carbs they wish to part with ? I have diaphrams,’floats, jets etc so just the bodies would suffice . Looking forward to wet blasting some of the grime off this bike and making her look presentable

I am also chasing fork legs and some exhaust headers / pipes

I have a set of carbs that came off a 650g that I have been using for spares, the float bowls are gone and I swapped out the slide top covers ( I think from memory 2 of the covers have holes in them) other than that the bodies appear to be in good condition with freely moving butterflies etc. I can't see myself using anything else off them if they are any use to you.

Hey Pkay, long time, no speak... How are you mate ?

Good news, I soaked the carbs overnight and when I came in this morning they freed up, fitted new fuel valves from BK Performance and reassembled the carbs. I have very badly cracked carb intake boots but we managed to hear her run after a 15 year sleep. Ordered some new boots from Springwood Suzuki which should be here by Friday.
