Mine is cleaner, as only done 1,500k's since rebuild.

Managing Director at worked asked me the other week "how do you clean your bike? Bay Wash, bucket?".

I said, "clean it? I don't let it get it dirty!!!"

Yep. One man pump and dump. There was a bit of this with XY falcons during the muscle car boom.

I had the pleasure of riding a very mildly tweaked rg 500 years ago and will never forget how easy a roll on wheelie can be with a combo of weight =zero and horsepower=105+ grinning now but $35000 good on ya those as can afford to do it

15k is probably a more realistic price for a good RG I reckon...

2 years ago maybe, wouldn't sit on my hands waiting for one at that price......

15k is a reflection of their relative rarity and perceived reputation.

They're a hoot, but they're not a 15k bike to ride - any modern 750 supersport trounces them, and can be secured brand new for about that sort of cash, let alone second hand...

Yes mate but the once the "collectors" get them in their sites you can kiss goodbye any logic to your valuation question. How else do you explain the price of Nortons and other pommie vibrating junk?

While I want another Big two stroke one day, I'd rather spend $15k creating something from scratch than spending 15k on a fucked RG500. I enjoyed my time with mine, probably wouldn't have sold it if my hand hadn't been forced, but now it's gone I feel somewhat liberated to be able to build whatever I want rather than worry about fucking with what was a relatively unmolested RG. I built my Kat from a fucked, molested and unloved example of the species. It owes me ~ 10k, Ohlins, Wires, fresh engine and all.. My next bike will be similar. I'm getting a hardon imagining what I could build for the $35k that that dreamer wants for his rg.

    Agreed.

But you're buying 'exclusivity' with an RG, don't you know ?
