Actually saw this one last week down Allgas Street. I'm not a fan of the gold rims, but that doesn't is i minor issue

Thought it look ok in flesh, despite a few minor cosmetic points which should be easy to correct.
- looks like Aux switch block is mounted on right hand side cover. Did not notice that on day, nor knew you could swap sides.
- rear caliper Torque link bar does not look correct, but not an expert on 84' jap imports. cMS has them in stock for 14.
- Foot rest rubbers need replacing.
- scratches on left frame cradle from possible engine removal.

When I was there, he had approx 6 units ( mix 750 & 1100 )

Am seriously considering this one as last time I saw one under $10k made the mistake of buacking and missed out.

Someone correct me if Im wrong but if that's an 84 model then the footpegs are wrong (should have alloy type), wrong pattern mags (should be 6 spoke, not snow flake pattern), should have black engine (not silver), should have black lowers on front forks (not silver), should be either, red/silver or blue/silver. The 84(SE) model was the same as 83(SD) other than colours available.

Just a couple things that should be checked..

There have been a few changes to it during it's globe trotting life. This one has lived in at least three different countries so far. I am thinking the same way as you that this seems more likely to be an SD rather than an SE. However, an owner may have put in the big yards on an SE and stripped the black from everything and repainted it to the Classic 13L Kat.

Figured the 5-spoke wheels and foot pegs were just cause of someone wanting to pimp-it their way, but missed the lower fork tubes.
Guess if it is an 84' frame, where have all the other bits come from?

Is it possible to get the engine and frame numbers and research to see if they match an 84 release ????

Perhaps someone in Bris might be able to drop in and check it out. I'm back in sydney with two weeks long service leave left and pissed of with this down pour.

The frame number is in the listing and unless it could be confirmed the engine is the original unit it would be very difficult.
