I know there are several of you that have oil cooled slabbies out there and wanted to do a quick straw poll of what oil you run. I'm particularly interested in the weight. The manual says 10w but reading the GSXR forum they talk about using 15W/20W. I'm currently running 15W semi synthetic but seems a wee bit noisy and not liking it, especially when things get warm. So I am planning another oil change (to check the oil state and see if there are any nasties as much as a change) and am interested in the views of others.

Cheers

Hi Paul, just check the ambient air temperature chart in the manual, it should have one. 10W is the worldwide default oil weight for bikes. 15W oil covers from minus 12 C to above 40 C, perfect for Brisbane. Save your money, you are not gaining anything out of using semi syth oil for your ultra low km use machines. Plain Jane mineral will be fine.

Cheers.

Pkay, you'll have to bring it on a ride sometime. I too have an '87 1100.

Yeah, that's right. A poor little ol' 7-Fiddy Kat is all, nothing to see here! Bah haw haw.

......last time I looked it had a blue seat.

If that makes you boys with GSXR's, hot-rodded Westlife 1100's et al nervous - then what can I say?:?

Well if you're going to resort to Latin all I can say is quid pro quo, op cit and vidi vinni vinci!

.....if it wasn't for roadworks - another few clicks and Mel G would have been pushing his XABCD (?) with an overheated motor.......
