I was using brickies sand in my blasting cabinet. It's shit. It is sticky sand and has silica in it. So out it came and I used my team discount with work and bought some cutting grit in a 10 kg tub. Look what it did in afew seconds! It smooths out imperfections in metals as well. It's gonna make finishing the bike a breeze!

I love my Soda Blaster (Supercheap blasting cabinet loaded with commercial blasting soda) clean alloy without fear of removing any metal. Clean carb bodies, pistons, engine cases etc, with no risk of erosion of embedding the media into the surface of the alloy. The soda is water soluble so no contamination risk. Only problem is containing the fine dust created during blasting.

I have the same cabinet. It's a lot nicer on the dust without the sand. The dust was so fine it was getting past the seals before.

Nice Josh! I used that same grit on the steel reinforcing on our balcony where we're patching up some concrete cancer and it did the trick nicely too.
