View Full Version : A Question on electrics

Sorry this is off topic as it's not one of the Kats.

I was working through one of the bikes with an electrical issue and came across the following symptoms. When I removed the sparkplugs to check for spark I only had spark on #4. 1, 2 and 3 had no spark. Running through the tests in the workshop manual I had power to coils, power to CDI, continuity between CDI and coils, continuity between all the relevant connectors in the loom, the pulse coil checked out per the book as did the CDI connections. But when I got to testing the secondary coil through the spark plug leads the resistance was outside spec on both coils. Does this mean I have duff coils?

The symptoms were:
The bike ran when I reassembled it. After about a week it then stopped. The plugs are new and there is fuel in the carb bowls. I know it is spark related cause when I sprayed starting spray in the airbox nothing happened.

Thanks in advance.
