Another annoying question sorry. My 1986 GSXR750 needs a good carb clean out but being a Japanese maket bike I understand the specs are different in a number of areas. Is it just the carb jet sizes that are different (given the Mick Hone response I think that is yes) or does it get more complicated than that and involve camshafts and the like. I'm hoping that a nice new set of jets for an Oz spec bike will fit without any issues or am I creating a problem for myslef further up the combustion chain.
Many thanks
PK

I *think* JDM cams were lower lift/shorter duration to get them down to 95 hp or whatever the limit was? Certainly that was the case with popups.

I've heard otherwise. Not sure if there's any truth to it but a guy told me that the 750's in Japan were the same spec as the '86 750 Limited Edition minus the dry clutch. Again, just something I was told but I must say, my '85 750 scared the shit out of a lot of 1000cc + bikes of the same era.
Plus a mate has an '86 1100 and an '87 750 and he reckons the 3/4 bike is quicker.

Id say dyno tune it and make sure there a no restrictors at the head to header point like there is supposed to be in my '87 1100.

Restrictors were usually washers stuck in the header weren't they?
It all needs cleaning and fixing so I'll get the new gear anyway and then get it tuned and set up properly.

Yeah, big washers and the restricted hole was curved. They're crazy. It takes the diameter from 40 something mm down to 20mm.

....................and all this time I thought a big bore kit was pistons - not washers.........
